President Gül, paying an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany upon the invitation of President Christian Wulff, enjoyed the warm hospitality by the German First Couple and the Turkish community as well as the German citizens during his programs he conducted along with First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül in Berlin, Osnabrück and Stuttgart. The friendship not only between the First Ladies but also between the Presidents of Turkey and Germany, two countries that have never been at war with each other throughout history, was witnessed during President Gül’s official visit to this country.

On the last day of his official visit to Germany, President Gül, proceeding to Stuttgart, met with the Prime Minister of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, and afterwards, he attended a reception during which he met representatives of the Turkish and German NGOs.

President Gül stated that many a successful Turkish person in the State of Baden-Württemberg and referred to Cem Özdemir, the co-Chairman of the Greens Party. Also mentioning the robust economic relations between Baden-Württemberg and Turkey, the President informed his audience that the trade volume between the two parties is almost 5 billion dollars.

Afterwards, State PM Kretschmann hosted a luncheon for the First Couple.

RECEPTION FOR TURKISH AND GERMAN NGOs

Welcomed with great enthusiasm and ovation by the Turkish community upon their arrival at the Municipality of Stuttgart, President Gül and the First Lady enjoyed the songs the children carrying both countries’ flags sang.

The First Couple later attended the reception during which they met with representatives of the Turkish and German NGOs.

President Gül, after the reception held at the Municipality of Stuttgart, explored the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research, where he was informed about the studies and the projects being conducted. He also drove a car running on methane.

The President, after completing his official program in Germany, left for Turkey.
