State Visit of King Harald V And Queen Sonja of Norway to Turkey

Upon the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, His Majesty King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway will pay a State Visit to Turkey, on 5-7 November 2013.

This will constitute the first Head of State visit between Turkey and Norway since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1926.

During the official meetings to be held in Ankara on 5 November 2013, all aspects of relations, particularly the political and economic issues, between Turkey and Norway will be discussed. Furthermore, additional opportunities for increasing the trade volume and mutual investments will be covered and views will be exchanged on current regional and international issues.

In addition to being an oil and gas producer, Norway also has a significant technological know-how and experience in the field of renewable energy. In this context, His Majesty, King Harald V will participate in the opening ceremony of the “Turkish-Norwegian Partnership in the Field of Renewable Energy Resources Forum” in Ankara on November 6.

After completing his official contacts, the visiting King will meet the representatives of the business community in Istanbul on November 7, 2013.

This visit of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway to Turkey will provide an opportunity to confirm, at the highest level, the reciprocal will between the two friendly and allied countries to develop and deepen cooperation. It is believed that the talks within this context will contribute to further strengthening of our relations with Norway in all areas.
