“Today, we are proudly celebrating the 88th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day, a milestone of our history.

The victory that our glorious nation and heroic army under then commander-in chief Mustafa Kemal won over strong armies was written in gold letters in history. This victory is indeed a compendium of our glorious history. The Turkish nation rose from its ashes with this victory.

The August 30 Victory was a great saga written with the spirit of unity and solidarity. Atatürk’s knack for leadership, our nation’s patriotism and passion for independence and our army’s audacity and heroic deeds brought this victory.

With this victory, an eternal memorial of our resoluteness to live freely together was erected. It was proclaimed to the whole world that Anatolia will be the Turkish land forever. Our nation once again proved that it would protect its unity and solidarity under any circumstances with the August 30 Victory.

The victory gained at the end of the Battle of Dumlupınar, while making the struggle for existence waged with the unity between the nation and the army, paved the way for a new state on the basis of national sovereignty, the fundamental aim of our War of Independence.

The Republic of Turkey, founded after the August 30 Victory, is constantly rising as a modern, prosperous and strong state with its dynamic economy, developing democracy and army, which looks to the future with hope, spreading peace and stability to its environment and making constructive contributions to the world system.

Our nation has an unshakable resoluteness to raise our country to beyond the level of the modern states and to have a more modern state and democracy.

The Turkish nation is well aware of the fact that it enjoys today due to its past victories and struggles. We will not forget the sacrifices made for the sake of the land, flag and independence nor will we give up working to carry our country to a better future. I wholeheartedly believe that Turkey’s path will always be open and bright.

I hereby would like to express our pride once again in the Turkish Armed Forces, one of the world’s strongest armies, and in its prowess, audacity, discipline and achievements.

On the 88th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day, I remember the founder of our republic, our great leader Atatürk, his fellow soldiers, all the heroes of the War of Independence, and our martyrs and other wounded veterans with gratitude.

I celebrate this Victory Day with the members of our glorious army whose history is full of victories, with our troops serving abroad to contribute to the world peace and I send my good wishes and greetings to my fellow citizens.”
