 “Turkey is increasingly showing its strength in aviation”

 

Attending the opening ceremony of the Kale Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Factory in Izmir, President Gül recalled that the parts that will be manufactured in the factory will be used in the engines of the F-35 jets which are among the world’s newest generation planes, offering his thanks to the government, local authorities and others who have contributed to the opening of the factory.

SIGNIFICANCE OF ENGINE FACTORY FOR TURKEY

Sharing his pride in opening the factory, President Gül underscored the significance of the facility for the whole country and offered his thanks to the government, local authorities and others who have contributed to the opening of the factory. He also extended his congratulations to the owners including the Bodur family and their Turkish and American partners.

The President further pointed to the significance of the factory which he said requires a very advanced technology and sensitive production at all stages. The parts that will be manufactured, he said, will be used in the engines of the F-35 jets which are among the world’s newest generation planes, adding that these productions mean reaching an upper level and standard for Turkey.

President Gül,reiterating that countries like Turkey with a huge population and strategic and political depth should have strong industries, maintained that developed countries, as their prosperity has increased, have enjoyed a strong industrial sector as well. The same will apply to Turkey in the future, he noted.

CORRELATION BETWEEN TURKEY’S POLITICAL STABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT

Turkey, the President continued, has taken important steps in all areas in recent years and said that the political stability and the legal standards enjoyed in the country have brought the economic growth and development, pointing to the average growth rate in the last decade, which he said is 5.5 %. The President later underscored that Turkey has also enjoyed significant development in high-tech industries in recent years and brought about the advancements in civil aviation industry in Turkey, referring to the increase in the number of the private firms in the aviation sector.

DEVELOPMENTS IN AVIATION

Drawing attention to the importance of the military dimension when it comes to the aviation sector, President Gül reiterated that the Turkish Air Force, which he recalled marked its centenary, is one of the world’s oldest air forces. Turkey, he also said, is one of the first countries to produce planes and pointed out that the AWACS aircraft were taken in the inventory of the Air Force a few weeks ago. Our country, he continued, is also the producers of some of the crucial parts of such aircraft including the A 400M transport aircraft. He then informed his audience that the ATAK helicopters, the production of which is also conducted in Turkey, will be delivered to the Army soon.

TURKEY’S SUCCESS IN AVIATION SECTOR

Turkey is increasingly demonstrating its strength in the aviation sector which involves high-tech and high quality and standards, declared the President, accentuating that Turkey has proved itself in this area. He further noted that the Kale Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Factory is one of the best examples of the trust in Turkey, its industrial capacity, entrepreneurs, engineers, technicians and organizational capabilities in this regard.

FRIDAY PRAYER AT HAMİDİYE MOSQUE

Prior to the ceremony, President Gül performed the Friday Prayer at Hamidiye Mosque. The President, upon leaving the mosque, enjoyed a great enthusiasm from citizens and he also had a memoir photo taken with teachers at the entrance of the historic Mithatpaşa Industrial Vocational High School.
