Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit Kicks off

The Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit was launched in Tbilisi. President Gül, upon his arrival at the National Library where the summit will be held, was welcomed by President Margvelashvili of Georgia.

Prior to the plenary session of the summit, President Gül, President Margvelashvili and President Aliyev had family photos taken. Afterwards, they each delivered a speech.

MULTILATERAL COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKEY, GEORGIA AND AZERBAIJAN

Evincing his pleasure at visiting Tbilisi on the occasion of the Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, President Gül pointed out that the three countries enjoy a multilateral and intense cooperation and recalled that they laid the grounds of the Georgia leg of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Project in 2007. The three countries, he noted, have carried out such huge projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Gas Pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway at the regional and global scale, adding that they will be discussing these projects in detail as part of the summit.

GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS OF THREE COUNTRIES TO STABILITY AND WELFARE IN SOUTH CAUCASUS

The President further drew attention to the fact that everyone appreciates the contributions made by all the three countries to the stability and prosperity in the southern Caucasus, reiterating: "We have made the high mountains a gateway to cooperation rather than a wall of obstacles."

Declaring the peoples of the three countries to be sisters and brothers, President Gül said: "The existing collaboration based upon a close friendship between our peoples has ramifications in the economic area as well, at which I'm very pleased."
