Montenegrin President Filip Vujanoviç paid an official visit to Turkey from March 1-3, 2011 upon the invitation of President Abdullah Gül.

The President welcomed his Montenegrin counterpart with an official ceremony at the Çankaya Presidential Palace. Afterwards, President Gül and First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül had a tete-a-tete with the Montenegrin First Couple. The two presidents then chaired the delegational talks, after which they held a joint press conference.

The First Couple, in the evening, gave an official dinner for Montenegrin President and his spouse, Mrs. Vujanovic.

President Vujanovic’s visit had a particular importance in that this was the first presidential visit from Montenegro to Turkey since the former gained her independence in 2006. This visit was also a return visit for which President Gül paid to Montenegro in December 2009. having completed his schedule in Turkey, President Filip Vujanovic of Montenegro left for Turkey on March 3.
